Terms of Service
The rules for playing Culprix. By signing in, you accept them. What we keep about you, and why, is in the Privacy Policy.
Last updated 4 October 2026
Your account
- You must be 16 or older to play. The cases deal with murder and other crimes.
- An account is for one person. You sign in with a link sent to your email address, or with your Google account, so whoever can open that inbox or that Google account can play as you. Keep them yours, and don’t sign in as anyone else.
Your subscription
- The subscription. Beyond its free cases, Culprix is played with a subscription, monthly or yearly, at the prices shown in the FAQ and at checkout, taxes included, charged when you subscribe. Prices are in US dollars; the checkout may show and charge the amount in your own currency. Payment is handled by Link, Stripe’s checkout service, which sells the subscription to you as the merchant of record; its purchase terms apply to the payment.
- Free cases. A selection of cases is free to play, each marked Free, and the free cases change from month to month. Without a subscription you can play every free case, with no card. A free case you open this way is yours to finish. Fair use applies to free play as it does to a subscription.
- Renewal and cancelling. The subscription renews by itself every month or year until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from Settings, or at link.com; you keep playing until the end of the period you have paid for. The cases you have begun and the verdicts you have read stay in your account.
- Changing the price. We will tell you at least 30 days before a new price applies to your subscription, and you can cancel before it does.
- Your right to withdraw (EU and UK). Link sells the subscription as the merchant of record, so your right to withdraw from the purchase, where the law gives you one, and how it applies once play has begun, are set out in Link’s purchase terms, which you accept when you subscribe.
Playing fair
Investigate however you like: go anywhere, ask anyone anything, try any theory. What isn’t allowed:
- Attacking the service: trying to break into it, overload it, or get around its limits.
- Automating it: bots, scripts, or scraping in place of a person playing.
- Harming others: writing anything unlawful, or anything that harasses or exposes a real person.
Fair use
A subscription is for your own play of Culprix’s cases. So that the game master stays available to everyone, play has limits that ordinary play does not reach: how many new cases you can open in thirty days, how long one investigation can run, and how many turns you can take in thirty days. Free play, without a subscription, has a ceiling of its own: up to 250 turns a month. When you reach one, the game says so: limits over thirty days or a month lift again with time, and an investigation that has run its full length can still be declared. Automated or scripted play, sharing an account, and using the game master for anything but playing a case are not allowed, and we may limit or suspend an account that does them.
What you write
What you write to the game stays yours. You let us store it and use it to run the game and keep it working; the Privacy Policy says who handles it. You are responsible for what you write, and there is no need to put anything personal in it.
The cases
- They are for playing here. The stories, the pictures, the voices, and the game itself are Culprix’s work or used with permission. Play them for your own enjoyment; don’t copy, sell, or republish them, or use them to train an AI model. Two exceptions, set out on the press page: you may stream your own play and publish videos of it, and earn from them, and you may use the logo and pictures there in coverage of Culprix.
- They are fiction. The people and the crimes in every case are invented; any likeness to a real person is a coincidence.
The game master
- It is an AI model performing a case written in advance. It works from that case, but it can still make mistakes: a detail out of place, a slow or failed reply.
- Your score is the game’s verdict on your declaration, marked against the case’s own answers. It is part of the game and carries no prize.
The service
- It can change. We may add, change, or withdraw cases, and change or stop the service. We work to keep it running, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors.
- It is offered as it is. As far as the law allows, we aren’t responsible for losses that come from using Culprix or from not being able to. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the consumer law where you live.
Closing an account
You can stop playing at any time. To have your account deleted, ask as the Privacy Policy says. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and where we can, we’ll tell you why.
Changes
When these terms change, this page changes first, with the date at its top; if you keep playing after that, the new terms apply. Questions go to support@culprix.com.
