Privacy Policy
Culprix keeps what it needs to sign you in and to hold your cases until you finish them. We don’t sell your data, show you ads, or use your writing to train models. The rules for playing are in the Terms of Service.

What we keep
- Your email address. You sign in with a link sent to it, or with your Google account; there is no password. If you sign in with Google, the name, profile picture, and account ID on your Google account come with it; they are kept with your account and not otherwise used.
- Your cases. Everything you write to the game master and everything it writes back, your declaration, and your score, so a case resumes where you left it.
- Your play record. Which case you opened and when, when you made each move and how long the game master took over it, how many leads and facts your case held, when you declared, your points, and whether you finished, abandoned, or opened the case again: counts and times, never the words. It shows us which cases are played and finished, and each case’s page shows everyone how many times it has been played: a total, with no names.
- If you subscribe: a reference to your customer record at Stripe, and your plan and its dates (its first payment, renewals, a cancellation). We never see or keep your card details.
- For fair use: when you take a turn, kept for 35 days, and when you open a case, kept for 60 days, or longer while a free case you opened is still in progress, to apply the limits in our Terms, and counted, with no names, to see how free play is used: how many play a free case, finish it, or go on to subscribe.
- If you turn on Content Updates in Settings, under Notifications: your email address, on the list our email service keeps to send them, until you turn them off there. The link in each email stops them too; your address then stays with our email service, marked unsubscribed, until you ask us to delete it.
- Your feedback. A note you send from Feedback in Settings, with your email address and account ID, so we can read it and write back to you. It is kept by our feedback service, apart from your cases.
- Technical records. The services below keep the logs any website keeps to run safely, such as your IP address and when you signed in.
What you write is part of the story. There is no need to put anything personal in it.
Who else handles it
A few services do the work on our behalf. Each receives only what its job needs:
- Hosting and database providers run the game, hold your account and your cases, and sign you in.
- A sign-in provider, Google, when you choose to sign in with it, confirms who you are, and so knows that you use Culprix.
- AI model providers run the game master and score your declaration, from what you write; one turns your voice into text when you dictate.
- A payment provider: Stripe, through Link, which sells the subscription as the merchant of record and handles the payment, taxes and receipts.
- A voice provider reads the story aloud when Voices is on. It receives the game master’s paragraphs, never the lines you send.
- An email service sends your sign-in links and, if you turn on Content Updates, keeps your address on its list and sends you the updates.
- A feedback service holds the notes you send from Feedback, with your email address and account ID, and may write to you about them. It never sees your cases.
Some of these services are based in the United States, so your data may be processed there. Ask us at privacy@culprix.com for the current list.
On your device
- Cookies keep you signed in and remember which case you have open. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
- Your browser remembers whether Voices is on, and holds a declaration you have started but not yet sent.
- The microphone is used only while you are dictating, from the moment you tap it until you tap it again.
- Visits to culprix.com are counted by our hosting provider’s analytics, which sets no cookies and doesn’t follow you to other sites.
How long we keep it
- An abandoned case is deleted at once; its play record is kept.
- Every other case, in progress or closed, is kept with your account, so a closed case stays among your cases with its score. Starting a case over replaces it.
- Billing records are kept for as long as the subscription runs and as long as tax law requires after; fair-use records for 35 days for a turn and 60 days for a case you open, or longer while a free case is in progress.
- Your feedback is kept until you ask us to delete it.
- Your account is kept until you ask us to delete it. Deleting it deletes every case with it and takes your address off the Content Updates list; your play record stays as counts with no link to you.
Your choices
You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. Write to privacy@culprix.com from the address you sign in with, and we’ll answer within a month. If you aren’t satisfied with our answer, you can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Changes
If what we keep, or the kinds of services that handle it, change, this page changes first, with the date at its top. Questions go to privacy@culprix.com.
